Jerry Lee “Smoochy” Smith es un pianista autodidacta y cantante de los años 50 catalogado como el creador del sonido Memphis Pumping Piano, tocando Rockabilly, Country, Boogie, Blues y Gospel. Fue miembro de The Mar-Keys desde 1958 y co-escritor del éxito de 1961 “Last Night”. “Smoochy” Smith tocó en la banda de Carl Perkins en 1955 y con cantantes de la talla de Ace Cannon, Gene Simmons, Eddie Bond, Billy Lee Riley y Warren Smith. Después de tocar en sesiones y colaborando en temas de la Sun Records durante varios años, escribió y grabó innumerables éxitos para el sello Stax. En los años 80 ofreció giras por el mundo con The Sun Rhythm Section, formada por veteranos de los años 50 de la escena musical de Memphis, asociada con la Sun Records, formada por Sonny Burgess, Paul Burlison, D. J. Fontana, Marcus Van Story y Stan Kessler

Jerry Lee “Smoochy” Smith is a self-taught pianist and vocalist from the 50´s. Smoochy Smith has been credited with being instrumental in creating the Memphis Pumping Piano sound, playing Rockabilly, Country, Boogie, Blues y Gospel . He was a member of The Mar-Keys from 1958 on and was a cowriter on their 1961 hit “Last Night”. Played in Carl Perkins´ band in 1955 and he played with Ace Cannon, Gene Simmons, Eddie Bond, Billy Lee Riley and Warren Smith. After playing sessions and serving as a staple of the Sun sound for several years, he went on to write and record a huge, early smash for the Stax label. In the 80´s he toured the world with The Sun Rhythm Section, made up of down-home veterans of the 1950´s Memphis music scene associated with Sun Records Company, formed in 1986 by Sonny Burgess, Paul Burlison, Marcus Van Story, D. J. Fontana and Stan Kessler
