January 28, 1956 - Elvis made his first national television appearance on CBS-TV's "Stage Show", a Jackie Gleason production, which featured Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey. The show was broadcast from the CBS Studios at 8.00 p.m. Because of the weather and because Elvis was unknown in New York City there were not much people attending the show
