January 20, 1969 - Elvis Presley records "In The Ghetto". This song is about poverty, describing a child who can't overcome his surroundings and turns to crime, which leads to his death. It was the first song Elvis recorded with a socially-conscious message.

I wrote Eddie Bond story "The Brown-Eyed Hillbilly" It was published in 14 weekly articles in a local paper then the book went overseas, where it was translated into French by Dominique Anglares, Into Spain where it was translated into Spanish by Ana Fernández, ot Holland where it was translated into Dutch by Hans Angevare.
